Down Syndrome Support in Perth

Reliable, non-clinical support and companionship for children, teens and adults with Down syndrome across Perth — building confidence, independence and connection, at their own pace.

Every person with Down syndrome is an individual, with their own personality, interests and goals. Good support isn't about a diagnosis — it's about knowing the person, following their lead, and helping them do more of what they love.

I'm Samuel, an independent support worker in Perth with 9+ years' experience. I provide non-clinical support and companionship — the everyday, practical help that builds confidence and independence.

How I can help

Support is built around the person's interests, personality and goals. Depending on their needs, that might include:

  • Companionship and mentoring — a positive, dependable person to spend time with.
  • Getting out into the community — community access to activities, outings, sport and hobbies.
  • Building independence — encouragement and practice with age-appropriate everyday skills.
  • Social confidence — gentle encouragement to try things, join in and connect with others.
  • Hobbies and interests — time doing what they love, and discovering new things.
  • Light everyday help — a hand around the home and with getting to activities.

Please note: I provide non-clinical support, mentoring and companionship. I don't provide personal care, speech/occupational/physio therapy or medical services — those are for suitably qualified providers.

Support for all ages

From a school-aged child building confidence and getting out, to a teenager growing their independence, to an adult living their own life — support looks different at each stage. Whatever the age, I follow the person's lead and keep things patient, positive and practical.

NDIS support for Down syndrome

Many people with Down syndrome are NDIS participants. If a plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can usually choose your own support worker — including an independent worker like me — rather than being limited to a large agency. Learn more here, or get in touch and we can talk it through.

Safe and properly checked

I hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Check, Working With Children Check and First Aid & CPR, with public liability insurance and references available on request. I'm always glad to show evidence before we begin — read more on my checks & insurance page. Supporting a younger child? See my support for children & young people page too.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support children and adults with Down syndrome?

Yes — children, teenagers and adults. The right support depends on the person's age, interests and goals; the best starting point is a friendly chat about what would help.

What kind of support do you provide?

Non-clinical, practical support and companionship — getting out into the community, building everyday skills and independence, social confidence, hobbies and activities, and light everyday help at home. I don't provide personal care, therapy or clinical services.

Is this clinical or therapy support?

No. I provide non-clinical mentoring, companionship and everyday support. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, personal care and medical services are for suitably qualified professionals — many families combine both.

Can the NDIS fund a support worker for Down syndrome?

Often, yes. Many people with Down syndrome are NDIS participants. If a plan is self- or plan-managed, you can usually choose your own support worker, including an independent one like me. It depends on the individual plan — see my NDIS page or get in touch.

Are you safely checked?

Yes. I hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Check, Working With Children Check and First Aid & CPR, with public liability insurance and references available. See my checks & insurance page.

How do we get started?

Just get in touch for a friendly, no-pressure chat about the person and what would help. If it feels like a good fit, we can talk about next steps — and you're welcome to ask to see any of my checks first.
