Autism & ADHD Support

An Autism & ADHD Support Worker in Perth Who Takes the Time

Experienced Support. Genuine Connection. Your Life, Your Way.

Support that starts by understanding the person, not a diagnosis.

Every autistic or ADHD person is different. Good support means learning how you — or your family member — experience the world, and building support around that: your pace, your routines, your interests and your goals.

I'm Samuel, an independent support worker in Perth with more than 9 years of experience supporting people with a wide range of needs.

As an independent autism and ADHD support worker, I offer consistent, one-to-one support from the same familiar person — not a rotating roster of unfamiliar faces.

A Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming. That means I don't see autism as something to be ‘fixed’. I see a person with their own strengths, preferences and ways of doing things, and my role is to provide practical support that helps them live the life they want, with dignity and respect.

Support is calm, predictable and led by the person. Consistency and trust matter enormously — which is exactly what one-to-one support from the same person is able to offer.

How I Can Help

Autism support looks different for everyone. Depending on your circumstances, it might include:

Routine & Structure

Support to plan and keep to predictable routines that make the day feel manageable.

Community Access

Support to get out, run errands, attend activities and take part in the community at a comfortable pace.

Social Connection

Genuine companionship and support to build social connection around your interests.

Daily Living

Practical help with everyday tasks while encouraging independence and confidence.

Interests & Goals

Support built around what matters to you — your hobbies, interests and personal goals.

Respite for Family

Reliable support that also gives parents and carers a well-earned break.

Support is available for autistic adults and young people, shaped around each person's individual needs and, where appropriate, involving family.

Sensory-Aware, At Your Pace

Good autism support is about the how as much as the what. In practice that means:

Predictable and consistentThe same familiar person, clear communication and, where possible, no surprises.
Sensory-awareSupport that respects sensory needs, comfortable environments and the need for downtime.
Communication that suits youI adapt to how you like to communicate, and I listen more than I direct.
Led by the personYou set the pace and the priorities — support follows your lead.

Support for ADHD, Too

Autism and ADHD often go together, and the same patient, structured support helps.

If you or your family member has ADHD, I can help with the everyday things that are often the hardest — getting started on tasks, keeping to routines, staying organised, remembering appointments and following through on plans. As an ADHD support worker in Perth, my role is practical and encouraging, never judgemental: gentle structure and simply being a steady presence alongside you (sometimes called ‘body doubling’) that makes day-to-day life feel more manageable.

As with autism, this is non-clinical support — not therapy, ADHD coaching or medication management — and it works alongside any clinicians already involved.

Autism & ADHD Support and the NDIS

Many autistic and ADHD people access support through the NDIS, often under core supports like assistance with daily life and social and community participation. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can usually choose their own support workers, including an independent provider like me. How support can be arranged depends on your plan and circumstances. Learn more on the NDIS page.

Support that understands the person, not just the label.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an autism support worker actually do?

An autism support worker provides practical, everyday support — help with routines, getting out into the community, staying socially connected, and building confidence and independence. It's about supporting the person to live the life they want, at their pace.

Do you provide autism therapy or behaviour intervention?

No. I provide non-clinical support and companionship, not therapy, behaviour intervention or clinical services. My support can work alongside any therapists or clinicians already involved, but it doesn't replace them.

Do you support autistic adults as well as young people?

Yes. I support autistic adults and young people, with support shaped around each person's individual needs and, where appropriate, involving family.

Can NDIS funding be used for autism support?

Often, yes. Autism support may fall under core supports such as assistance with daily life and community participation. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can usually engage an independent support worker. It depends on your plan and circumstances. More on the NDIS page.

Are you a neurodiversity-affirming support worker?

Yes. I don't see autism or ADHD as something to be fixed. I focus on understanding and respecting the person, and building support around their strengths, preferences and goals.

Do you support people with ADHD?

Yes. I support autistic and ADHD people, including those with both. For ADHD, support often focuses on structure, getting started on tasks, organisation, routines and follow-through — practical, encouraging help with the things that are often hardest. It's non-clinical support, not therapy or ADHD coaching.
