Intellectual Disability Support

Intellectual Disability Support in Perth, Built Around the Person

Experienced Support. Genuine Connection. Your Life, Your Way.

Respectful, patient support that helps build everyday independence.

Everyone with an intellectual disability has their own strengths, interests and goals. The best support meets a person where they are, communicates clearly, and helps them do as much for themselves as they can.

I'm Samuel, an independent support worker in Perth with more than 9 years of experience supporting people with a wide range of needs.

As an independent intellectual disability support worker, I offer consistent, one-to-one support from the same familiar person, built around the individual.

Clear, Respectful, Independence-Focused

Good support isn't about doing everything for someone — it's about supporting them to build skills, confidence and independence, at their own pace. I communicate clearly and patiently, keep things consistent, and shape support around what each person wants to achieve in their everyday life.

Honest About What I Do & Don't Provide

I provide non-clinical support and companionship. I do not provide personal care, medication, behaviour therapy or clinical support — those should only be provided by people with the right qualifications and arrangements in place. My support focuses on everyday life and works alongside any clinicians or therapists already involved.

Intellectual Disability Support and the NDIS

Many people with an intellectual disability access support through the NDIS, often under core supports like assistance with daily life and social and community participation, and capacity building. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can usually choose their own support workers, including an independent provider like me. How support can be arranged depends on your plan and circumstances. Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of support do you provide?

Non-clinical, everyday support — building daily living skills, community access, social connection, routine and structure, and respite for family. The focus is on clear, patient support that builds independence and confidence.

Do you provide personal care, medication or behaviour therapy?

No. I provide non-clinical support and companionship only. Personal care, medication and behaviour therapy should be provided by qualified people with the right arrangements in place. My support works alongside them.

Do you support adults and young people?

Yes. I support adults and young people with an intellectual disability, with support shaped around each person's needs and, where appropriate, involving family.

Can NDIS funding be used for this support?

Often, yes — through core supports such as assistance with daily life and community participation, and capacity building. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can usually engage an independent support worker. It depends on your plan and circumstances.
